Thank You Volunteers Who Helped on Earth Day 2023!
We are grateful to the dozen volunteers from Open Hearts Foundation who helped to clean up Ballona Creek on Earth Day, April 22, 2023!
Over 50 volunteers joined Ballona Creek Renaissance to help them remove trash and other debris from Ballona Creek, where the inland water and incoming tide meet in West Los Angeles—a special place of water, fish, birds, and plants. Each year, through their clean ups and trash net, the small charity removes roughly 3 tons of trash from the creek, preventing it from flowing into the ocean.
LA City Councilwoman for CD11, Traci Park, welcomed the volunteers and thanked them for their service on Earth Day and then joined us in picking up trash and debris.
